TIK TIK TIK Movie Review
A five-member team is sent by Defence Space Division to stop an asteroid from hitting Chennai and its surrounding places which poses a threat to around four crore people's lives. The Defense Space Division team (DSD), which has Mahendran (Jayaprakash) at its helm, finds that an asteroid will hit earth in seven days, due to which the lives of four crore people in and around Chennai, will be lost. They learn that a heavy missile should be used to destroy the asteroid.
However, given the lack of time, they have only one way to obtain the missile - through illegal means. But considering the seriousness of the issue, the team goes ahead with this secret mission which only Prime Minister, Home Minister and Defence Minister are aware of, except the DSD team. The biggest challenge for them is to take it from space which can be done only by expert thiefs.
They rope in escape artist Vasu (Jayam Ravi) and his friends, Venkat (Ramesh Thilak) and Appu (Arjunan), for the same. Joining them are two efficient members from DSD - Swathi (Nivetha Pethuraj) and Raguram (Vincent Asokan). They set out to space for the mission successfully. When everything was going well, Vasu gets a threat from an unknown person. He is asked to hand over the missile as per the latter's instruction if he needs Ravi (his son) safe. Will the five-member team overcome all odds, get the missile and save the country?
Tipped as a first-of-its-kind space film of the country, Tik Tik Tik offers a new experience for Tamil audience. Though there are shots where you feel the CG could have been done better, the crew has done a decent job considering the budget and time. The screenplay, however, is quite predictable and the challenges which the protagonists face and how they overcome it aren't convincing at certain places. The lack of a strong antagonist, too, dilutes the tension which is built often. Over all, the movie is a good attempt and watchable for those who love watching something new in Tamil cinema.
