A press conference was held in Chennai regarding this. Vijay Sethupathi, director Sriram Raghavan, anchor Pooja Latha Shruti, actress Katrina Kaif, actor Sanmukharajan, actor Gavin Babu, lyricist Yugabharathi and playback singer Deepa Venkat were present on the occasion.

Director Sriram Raghavan speaking on the occasion said, “When I started this film, I only thought that I would make it only in Hindi and introduce Vijay Sethupathi in Hindi. I had the idea and dream of directing a Tamil film even in Mumbai. Why shouldn’t it be this film..! I thought that. There was also a plan to sometime direct a Tamil film with Vijay Sethupathi. It was during the covid period when the film was started. During that period I met my friend director Thiagarajan Kumaraja. We met and talked even when he was in Mumbai. Can this story be made in Tamil too..! he asked. To that I said that I have no personality for Tamil language. He introduced the writers by saying that he would help. After that we planned to make it in both Tamil and Hindi languages. As per the plan, we worked hard and made the film in Tamil and Hindi.

I have also seen many Tamil films. Now all the Tamil movies are releasing in Mumbai as well. I am sure that my films will be liked by Tamil fans as well. Watch Merry Christmas movie and share your opinion. Meanwhile, there is also a dream of directing a film in Marathi.

Vijay Sethupathi and I met and talked at a film festival held in Melbourne. He won the award for his performance in ‘Super Deluxe’. Tabu, who acted in the film directed by me, also got an award. We became friends within five minutes of meeting. At that point only Katrina Kaif was confirmed to play the lead role in the film. After meeting Vijay Sethupathi back to Mumbai and talking about Vijay Sethupathi with my crew and what if Vijay Sethupathi played the role? We also discussed that. Everyone agreed in amazement at the pair. After that both of them joined in this movie.”

Vijay Sethupathi of ‘Makkal Selvan’ said, “It’s amazing that I even got the chance to do this film. At some moments in our life some things happen without telling us. Such is the encounter with Sriram Raghavan. We met in Melbourne. Then he will speak via video from Mumbai. His specialty is video recording of voice conversation.

His first film in direction was ‘Ek Haseena The’. It was released on my birthday in 2004. Then a friend of mine Sriram Raghavan, the assistant of director Ram Gopal Varma directed the film. The film is good. Look, he said. I saw that movie. I liked it very much. Can we act in his direction then? I thought that. After that I saw the movie ‘Badlapur’ released in Inox directed by him. I liked that movie too.

After that he met me and told me the story of ‘Merry Christmas’. I really liked it. This happened in September. After that no call came from him. A small fear peeked through me. Then I contacted the producer Sanjay.. My birthday is coming up in January. Can we make a deal then? I asked. They immediately agreed. After that came some hope.

After that met him.. had talks.. sat in his office and discussed many things.. during all the meetings he gave me a lot of freedom as an actor. He will be comfortable hiring us on the sets. All the minutes spent with him will be natural. It was a great experience working with him.

Followed by Pooja Madam, her assistant, story writer and film host. Their simple explanation of what a scene requires is also amazing.

Seeing Katrina Kaif in person gave me a small surprise. He is a senior artiste than us. There was also the fear that he has been in the film industry for two decades. When he entered the set, he focused only on the scenes for him. He made the environment very naturally comfortable.

Actor Gavin Babu, who is acting in this film, was trained at the Cooperative. He has also acted well.

It was when I worked in Dubai for three years that I heard my boss speak Hindi for the first time. After that I have spoken small words. Since then it has been 13 years since I spoke Hindi. It was difficult to speak Hindi while working on ‘Farsi’. After that I started speaking a little more fluently. I have spoken Hindi in this film. How I talked about it will be known only after the release of the film.

It is at work that languages have the right sound. The only difference is in hearing and speaking it, everything else is the same. Now that digital platforms have come, there is no wall between languages.

The movie is releasing on January 12. We all have seen this movie. We like it a lot. Hope you like it too. ” said.

Actress Katrina Kaif said, “Chennai is like my second home. Because my mother worked as a teacher in Madurai for nine years. I was very excited when I got the chance to act in this film. First we are introduced in Tamil. That too we are acting in a film co-produced with Vijay Sethupathi and Sriram Raghavan. I have acted in Malayalam and Telugu films before. But I am waiting with great anticipation as I am acting in Tamil for the first time.

Vijay Sethupathi and I participated in the workshop held for this film. It was also a good experience. On the set, Vijay Sethupathi taught me some Tamil words in which I would say the word ‘It was very difficult’. “Actress Deepa Venkat helped me with my Tamil accent on the set,” he said.

Lyricist Yuga Bharti said, Working with director Thiagarajan Kumararajah and Ilayaraja in the web series Modern Love Chennai… It was different working with him even though I have written more than two thousand songs in the Tamil film industry. At that time director Thiagarajan Kumararaja was working on a Hindi film? he asked. I didn’t know Hindi then..! I said that. Then he described the director Sriram Raghavan saying that the film is also being made in Tamil. I am a huge fan of his directorial films ‘Badlapur’ and ‘Anthadoon’. When he got the chance to work with her, Thiagarajan asked Thiagaraja, does Sriram Raghavan know Tamil? I asked. After that he introduced me to him.

Working on this film was different than usual. As Vijay Sethupathi said, Sriram Raghavan will prepare everyone mentally first. After shooting the scenes of this film, we started writing the songs. He screened the entire film and left it. He asked what you think and showed a video compilation of what songs have come in Tamil films before in this context. All of them are hit songs from successful Tamil films. Till then I didn’t know the metu for the song. After that leave to listen to that mat.. can we say these comments in these places.. or what can we say? Think about that. He said he can write after that.

His approach was very new to me. I got a lot of time to work. Moreover, it was necessary to write carefully and emotionally. They will translate what I wrote in Tamil into English. After that he will ask me some questions. All those doubts were meant to be simple in this song.

Stairs was in Hindi. None of the songs were written according to that meter and were written to suit the Tamil environment.

After that they called me during the recording of the song and gave me an opportunity to correct the pronunciation. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to music composer Pritham, director Sriram Raghavan and director Thiagarajan Kumararajah. ” said.
