Director Gautham Vasudev Menon plays a cameo role in his directorial – ‘Queen’ 

A director, a producer and a National Award winner, Gautham Vasudev Menon is widely known for his craft in the Film Industry. Having an eye for detail and creativity, Gautham has stood out in everything he has created. With MX Player’s ‘Queen’, GVM is seen adding another feather to his cap as he marks his digital debut; not only as a director but also as an actor. Doing what he does best, he is seen playing the character of a director in the series.

Queen traces the journey of Shakthi and her life from being a reluctant impoverished 15-year-old debutante actress to her becoming the people’s Queen.

As a teenager, Shakthi was forced to quit her education and pushed to become an actor and it was during this transition that she came across her first director – Shreedhar (portrayed by Gautham).

Being the first director that Shakhti ever comes across, his role is key in shaping her life at the movies. While the role is that of a cameo, he leaves a huge impact on Shakthi’s life – becoming an inspiration and a teacher to her while insisting that she accept the path she is on and make it her own.

On playing this cameo – Gautham says, “You can be great at the things you hate…but do you choose a life of greatness or one of happiness? And this is exactly what my thought was when I envisioned this character. If you want to be happy, then… do only what you love! It was a great experience being on the other side of the camera, it takes a different kind of strength and confidence to do that. The character is a changing point in Shakthi’s life and hence it was a pivotal role to play. Shreedhar’s traits, ideologies and attitude is something that I could relate with. So, I thought why not just do it”

Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon & Prasath Murugesan, the series stars Ramya Krishnan, Anikha Surendran, Anjana Jayaprakash and Indrajith Sukumaran in key roles.
