Late Veteran Producer R.D. Bhaskar’s Son Jaiyan Makes His Acting Debut with “Raja’s Playlist”!

Chennai 05 July 2026 Tamil cinema is set to welcome a promising new talent as Jaiyan, the youngest son of late veteran producer R.D. Bhaskar and nephew of legendary composer Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja, makes his acting debut in the musical family drama Raja’s Playlist.

Late R.D. Bhaskar, the elder brother of Ilaiyaraaja, played a pivotal role in the legendary composer’s early musical journey, standing as one of his strongest pillars of support during his formative years. A respected producer and a widely admired personality in the Tamil film industry, R.D. Bhaskar was known not only for his contribution to cinema but also for the deep friendships and goodwill he shared with several leading filmmakers and artistes across generations.

Continuing his family’s cinematic legacy, Jaiyan now steps into Tamil cinema with Raja’s Playlist, an emotionally engaging musical drama that celebrates family, relationships, and the enduring power of music.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Raja’s Playlist is the coming together of some of Tamil cinema’s most celebrated names, united by their long-standing friendship with Jaiyan and his family. On learning about Jaiyan’s acting debut, producer Ramanan Balagangatharan readily came forward to produce the film as a gesture of friendship and affection for the family.

Likewise, filmmaker Venkat Prabhu came on board to provide the story, Yuvan Shankar Raja agreed to compose the music, and acclaimed filmmaker Sudha Kongara joined the project as its Creative Producer. Their wholehearted association with the film reflects the respect, affection, and enduring bond they shared with the late R.D. Bhaskar and his family over the years.

Raja’s Playlist marks the directorial debut of Sujith N. Subramaniam, who previously worked as the cinematographer of the acclaimed film *Kudumbasthan*. Making a successful transition from behind the camera to the director’s chair, Sujith has also penned the screenplay based on a story by *Venkat Prabhu*. The film features music by *Yuvan Shankar Raja*, while acclaimed filmmaker *Sudha Kongara* serves as the *Creative Producer*.

The film stars debutant Jaiyan in the lead alongside Sona Olickal, Vagai Chandrasekhar, Guru Somasundharam, Roju, Bibian, Aarya Lakshmi, Pragadeeshwaran Poobalam, Indhumathy, Reshmi, Rajinth, Ramkumar, Meena, and Thilagavathi in pivotal roles.
