Ayali , the success of which was celebrated recently, and the success was celebrated by Estrella Stories, the Production House, witnessed the honoring of the cast and crew by celebrities of repute such as legendary director Bharatiraja, Directors Suseenthiran and Pandiaraj along with the Team at Zee5. Speaking on the occasion, S.Kushmavati, Head -Estrella Stories , the production house that produced Ayali, stated that she and her team were proud to be associated with Zee5 in presenting this Tamil Language streaming web series, regarded by many as a coming -of-age series ! Set in the 90s, this is a series that portrays the pursuit of a young girl’s aspiration to pursue her education, back in the then prevalent patriarchal societal culture. The events that pan out in Veerappannai village serves to break down the blind beliefs and misplaced practice of young girls being forbidden from continuing their education once they attain puberty.

Ayali, the presiding deity is believed to be offended should this blind, unquestioned practice ever be broken. And how a young girl supported by her mother subtly outwits the system is what makes this series an unbreakable watch !

The progress of a society is determined by the progress of her women and this progress can only be attained by educating the women of the society . Ayali, brings out this latent truth as an eye-opener and a myth breaker, and that is what Muthukumar , the director of this series has successfully attempted. Abhi Nakshatra plays the protagonist ably supported by Anumol, Aruvi Madhan, Lingaa and Singampuli in crucial roles and the 8 part series lingers on in our minds long after we have watched it.

All credit to Zee5 for picking this woman centric theme and enabling the same to be produced by a woman powered Production house, in the true spirit of Ayali! This series has been making a quiet wave and has appealed on account of its entertaining plot etched forever in the memory of the viewer through the spectacular frames that DoP Ramji has carved out and deserves appreciation.

Educate ,empower and emancipate women to pursue their dreams is what Ayali is all about. A must watch . A story well told. It is a clarion call to women all across to awaken the Ayali within them !
