Kalaimamani Sridhar ARS Dance Academy proudly presents ‘Dance Don 2’: A meaningful grand celebration in Chennai!

Chennai 25 July 2026 Kalaimamani Sridhar ARS Dance Academy, led by renowned choreographer Sridhar and his daughter Akshadha Sridhar, has been successfully imparting dance training at various locations across Chennai. The academy has been organising events to encourage its students and honour fellow artistes.

Continuing this tradition, the academy is hosting the grand event ‘Dance Don 2’ in Chennai today (July 25). The programme is taking place at Vela Kalaiarangam and features an unprecedented initiative undertaken by the academy.

As part of the event, 125 film choreographers who have contributed to the cinema industry between 1973 and 2026 are being honoured. In addition, 38 dance school teachers representing all districts of Tamil Nadu are also being recognised for their dedication and service to the art of dance. The event also features spectacular dance performances by the students of Kalaimamani Sridhar ARS Dance Academy.

Speaking about the initiative, Choreographer Sridhar Master said: “Having worked in the film industry for so many years, I felt the need to undertake research on the choreographers who came before us, worked alongside us, and entered the industry after us. While gathering information and various records about them, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there are currently 125 choreographers who have contributed to cinema since 1973.

Among them are artistes who have worked with former Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) and J. Jayalalithaa. Through ‘Dance Don 2’, we are bringing all these choreographers together on a single platform. We are also honouring 38 dance school teachers from across the state.”

He added: “More than a hundred of these 125 choreographers currently have no work opportunities. Similarly, dance instructors are continuing to run their dance schools amidst severe hardships. I would be delighted if this event provides opportunities for choreographers and brings visibility and encouragement to dance school instructors.”
